Vivienne Hayman and Ashley Sumner first established The Sugar Club in New Zealand in 1986 relocated the restaurant to Notting Hill in 1995, then to Soho in 1998. Winning the Time Out ‘Best Modern British Restaurant’ award in 1996 and ‘Best Central London Restaurant’ award in 1999, along with several Evening Standard Eros awards. Vivienne Hayman designed all three restaurants and ‘The Grocer on Elgin’.  
Frederic Flamme trained in France before travelling to London and becoming The Sugar Club’s Pastry Chef in 1995, then Senior Sous Chef in 1999. Freddie now creates meals, meringues, croissants and pastries for ‘the grocer on elgin’.
